To make her more "Saxon" I decided the foxy boots had to go. The pelta too needed to be replaced with a buckler. The hair is very un Saxon & needs changing to braided I think, gulp.

In the last two pics the chopping about has started. The boots are gone & legs thinned down so "puttees" can be added, skill permitting. The Pelta has also gone & the hands drilled for "bee stings". They are made from brass rod hammered flat apart from the handles. Then I used a file to make the blade edge.

Still to do - the hair......bottling this so far. Will I be able to sculpt the braiding convincingly? Don't think so lol. I'll see how I get on with the puttees first.

After the puttees I need to add a couple of sword sheaths, sculpt her left hand, tidy up her left arm.tidy up her belt & make the boobies up to 36 c or d. Oh & repair her dress thing.

Should be fun.

For the sculpting I will be mostly using this stuff -

http://www.musketeer-miniatures.com/range.php?r=1

BillT swears by (at?) this stuff & I quote:

"Using Procreate has transformed my work & indeed my life. Since using ProCreate my sculpting has improved no end & I won the prestigious "Golden Graham" award in 2007. Procreate has made me more attractive to women & a much better lover to boot. I wouldn't be without it!"

Well not a bad endorsement & luckily BillT also sells the stuff.

I will be following the wise of sculpting Jedi master BillT

http://www.musketeer-miniatures.com/blog/?page_id=170
http://www.musketeer-miniatures.com/blog/?page_id=6

Of course I need to get some proper tools too.

Pip & pip

Dave

The beginning

By Bernie Devonshirespring

The village was quiet, not too quiet, not that sort of quiet that would make you think something was about to happen, it was just quiet. Really quiet. Aside from the occasional guttural animal grunting & crackle from the fire it was silent. The calm after the storm, although technically as another storm was approaching, it could also be argued that it was a calm before a storm as well. Not a real storm that is, a metaphorical storm. So it was a sort of mid storm calm. All quiet & that.

Dufus stroked his chopper absent mindedly as he gazed across at Helric. She toyed silently with her "bee stings", the name she gave her two Saxon short swords. She was oblivious to the fact that she was being watched. Her mind elsewhere. The swords had been useful today. Slitting the throats of the wounded Britons that lay across the battlefield. Removing the fingers where the rings could not be taken off. She laughed at the suggestions she was a gold digger, way over town. She took silver too. The pickings had been poor today, a few coins, some jewellery, nothing of real value. Nothing that warranted the loss of 5 good Saxon men. These stinking Britons, where did they keep their money? Rumour was there was a hidden horde of gold, vast amounts, unimaginable riches. It was reputed to be hidden safely away in the hills under stone.Guarded & made secure by the finest warriors but where was this fabled "northern rock" they heard tell of? How safe really was the Briton's money?

Dufur looked at Helric's long blonde hair blowing across her face, her bright green eyes, her womanly curves & thought to himself.

Yeah, you would.
